LODGE MANAGER / LODGE MANAGEMENT COUPLE – ZAMBIA
Crawford & Carruthers Inc. is searching for a Lodge Manager or a Couple to manager a Boutique Size
5* Luxury Lodge in Zambia in a premier Wildlife area.
The successful candidate should have strong Food & Beverage background with perhaps chef experience.
This position could be suitable for a couple or a single candidate.
The Lodge manager should be an energetic, proactive person with well-developed concept of the importance of providing a world-class guest experience and the ability to provide that experience.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Strong F&B (Chef) experience, essential,
- Passionate, Dedicated, Natural leaders, mentors and trainers,
- Strong administrators with good work ethic,
- Good hosting skills,
- Detail orientated
- Be able to deal with high level, multi-cultural and multi-generational guests to ensure guest expectations are always exceeded. Experienced and sensitive in dealing with any guest complaints or special requirements.
- Of sober habit.
- Guiding experience not required but an understanding of operating in a remote wildlife environment is highly recommended.
- Overall management of day-to-day operations of a successful lodge (F&B, Admin, Housekeeping, Security & Grounds, Maintenance) with support from strong ops team at nearby HQ.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Recognized qualifications with relevant experience essential for work permits if not Zambian Nationals.
- 5 Years’ Experience in the Food & Beverage Industry with specific experience as Chef.
- Safari Lodge management experience.
- Previous management experience in an operation with more than 14 beds.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY OUTPUT
Managerial:
- Assist to ensure the lodge and brand is taken to the next level of service standards.
- Over sea the operations of the kitchen and chef.
- Overall responsibility for creating an environment of learning and development of individuals.
Financial:
- Responsible for operational strategizing.
- Assist in Capex structuring, planning, and implementing, project managing of Capex and financial projects where needed.
- Overall creative cost control and saving initiatives to stay within budget in collaboration with the Lodge Accountant.
Operational:
- Take charge of the overall Day to Day Management of the lodge.
- Daily meeting with Heads of Department to discuss the daily plan.
- Work closely with the Lodge Maintenance team to oversee and implement all maintenance
- Upkeep of Best Operation Practices (BOPs), styling guides and daily communication with
operations managers on guest & service details.
